Samuel S. McKinney, b. ca. 1822 Ireland, then to N. C.

I'm having some trouble tracking down Samuel S. McKinney, b. about 1822 in Ireland. He was residing as a laborer in Anson County, North Carolina in 1861 when he enlisted in the Confederate Army (Co. C, 10th N.C. Artillery) at age 39. He was paroled at Appomattox in April 1865. Census records of the same name in western N.C. (but not in Anson) indicate a fella too old to be him. FS and Ancestry no help, unless I'm missing a record. Closest but not sure: death of a possible daughter in Mecklenburg County, N.C. where many of Samuel's compatriots lived.

I cannot find a match on WT, and I have not created a profile for him yet.

Any help here? Many thanks!

Do you know marriage year and or name of spouse?

Would you have names of descendants?

There was a Samuel McKinney who married in 1856 in Western NC.

I have seen a few of these in census records, but the Samuel in these appears to be too old. I have no family members. the only source for the life of Samuel is what was recorded in his service records.

However,  since Samuel was listed as a laborer, he might have been itinerant. So maybe one of those just might be him, if I could get around the age he gave at enlistment.
