How to use the city county state categories?

What do folks recommend for the usage of the city county and state categories.  Born in died in, visited, lived in, etc...

Seems like we should probably agree on this but not sure if that's even possible.  I'd see the value if I could jump to a category and see others that were born there.

What do you think?

There's been a little bit of a discussion of that here:

It makes sense to me to categorize birth, marriage, residence, and death in order for cousins (who may not have very much information) to find the profile in every possible location.
