Sometimes you don't know whether to laugh or cry

So I thought I had Eyse-1 figured out.  Traced back through parish records in France and US Census records, I was working on cleaning up sources and double checking, etc.

And.... I come across this: http://www.centraliamuseum.com/pdf/Eis6.pdf .  A son I wasn't aware of and family history that I, quite frankly, messed up. Looks like I got something mixed up in the French records and now I have to clean up a mess I created.

*sigh*.

On the plus side the history is interesting and once I'm done the tree will be better.

Just keep your focus on that "plus side".  smiley  yes

I feel for you!  But how exciting to find another source!

Cry.  Then get to work.  Pretty soon you'll be laughing about it.  yes

That's what genealogy is all about - finding the mistakes, uncovering the stories, and...did I mention the mistakes? ;)

Nothing feels better than when I find a mistake I made and I fix it!

It's quite right to draw conclusions from the information available at the time. You only 'mess up' when you try to manipulate the data to fit your conclusions. Take satisfaction from having discovered something new and remember, if genealogy was simple very few of us would bother.

I came to G2G because I have a totally unrelated (to your problem) headache.  I'm working on the last child of one of the last children of my 5X great grandfather.  Almost finished, I think.  Then I find the son was married 3 times to 3 women married 3 times each and each of those husbands was married multiple times.  Eeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkk!  An OCD sufferer should never be subjected to such a cousin.

Thanks for listening.  I may just leave a few unconnected people.

Kathy, I’ve come across as few of these, and I begin to think, “Is it really worth it since they aren’t really related to me more directly?” In the effort to get my family in, I occasionally just leave them off. Going off on tangents makes me tired and frustrated.

Walt, if I had uploaded several “back there” portions of my gedcom, I’d have been put in front of the WT firing squad. Since joining WT, I’ve disproved about as much as I’ve proven. It’s the nature of the beast!  devil

*signs up for Wikitree firing squad* =)

Ah, you wouldn't make those kinds of errors, Pip. There's a reason why I had any gedcom I uploaded absorbed into Wikitree. Never sure if it's accurate. Better to be safe than to face the brute squad.

You would be the one, Chris! laugh

Who me? >=) Hahaha!

You never know when a kid is gonna pop up. At least you figured it out. Make mistakes and fix 'em later. It's all learning. Good work!
