Just to let you know, I do live in Canada, but I am signed up for the Scan-a-thon with the Kiwi Crew - my old team from New Zealand.

So we shall be in a friendly competition. smiley

Yes we will, Robynne! You will of course be sending me all your pics of Canuck relatives so that I can post them for the team I am sure they would have expected you to choose. wink

LOL Nope, sorry.

I'm thinking I can post my husbands Canuck relatives myself.

I dont have too many photos from them.....

Congrats on a fine finish and an amazing number of improvements to our global tree, from Team Acadia!

Thanks, Stephanie. Congrats to Team Acadia, too!

Just got an answer to my 2 questions:

1) If a picture has more than one person in it (say my parents), can I upload it and associate it with both profiles, does that count as 2 uploads? This applies to both the Scan-a-Thon scores and the number of uploads per profile.

 2) If a profile already has say 3 photo's can you still upload and have counted 10 new ones or 7?

Aleš response was:

1.) Melissa, that count as one upload. Only uploads of images is counted.

If you want to add primary photo for both profiles, itis better to cut out each person and upload those to each profile. It will make primary photo nicer and it will count as 2 uploads. That is what I intend to do for each profile where I have a person only on group photo.

2.) 10 new during a Thon for profiles by the same user. Not sure for space pages. We will see during the thon and decide to maybe increase the limit for Space pages.

Morning Melissa. Thanks for sharing this. I hope they do increase the limit for space pages. I use a space page for photos so that I can insert images in the text of profiles. I'm going to reach ten pretty quickly!

Sign me up. I have some great pics and this sounds like fun.

Wonderful, Judith. Can't wait to see your photos. Given how our families are interwoven here and there, I feel like I may see a familiar face!

I'll add you to the team list, while you sign up here.

I only have a few from that branch, but will post them. My focus after that will be on Alberta where the main part of my collection comes from.

Last day before the Scan-a-Thon! Please drop in, introduce yourself and let us know what you're working on.

I live in Ontario and have uploaded most of my own family photos to the site already, but I found about a dozen to add to existing profiles. After adding those, I'm going to set up a free-space page. My great-grandfather and his brother were great travellers, so my plan is to set up a page on the Cruthers Brothers travels and work on that. Thanks Greg for finding out that, unlike the Source-a-Thons, you can set up new profiles and free-space pages during this thon and can count images uploaded to them in your score.

See you tomorrow or on the weekend MMLs!
by Laurie Cruthers G2G6 Pilot (165k points)
Thanks Laurie for all your hard work.

I live in Southwestern Ontario and I am concentrating on photos of my family and friends. Most are taken in either London or Grand Bend Ontario.

I am going to use mostly Free Space Profiles as there isn't enough room on many of the individual profiles and also because there are a lot of group pictures that apply to more than one profile. I will reference the Free Space Url(s) on all the applicable family profiles.

So let's do it folks - lol
Thanks, Melissa. Sounds like a plan! Looking forward to looking at those Grand Bend photos if this cold snap continues. Brrrrr.

Yes, very nice!

Just starting to look at our team's photos. Judith, some of my favourites: Florence in her nursing uniform (the cap!), Annie's beautiful hat, Mildred in the boat, the Chidlows' 50th wedding anniversary. I don't know about the rest of you, but I do think we're doing important work here, preserving wonderful images that might otherwise be stored away never to be seen.

Melissa, the picnic table ping pong game; Jamie, the adorable pony shot; Peggy, the very dapper Joseph; and Michael, the Morton Theatre Company. Way to go Mighty Maple Leaves!
Well you said you wanted Grand Bend pictures :-) They are scattered throughout my profiles.

Yes the card games and round robin ping pong game, those were always traditions when family and friends were at the cottage (aka McKay Lodge)

Well I have uploaded all the pics I scanned, I will have to look back in the pictures I took with the digital camera.

Hope everyone is having fun :-)
They did warm me up and made me feel quite nostalgic. :-)
I got a photo scanner for Christmas and am having a blast going through the boxes and boxes of photos. Yes, there are duplicates, trash and treasures among them. I'm barely making a dimple in box 1, but many are of living people. Florence was the first nurse in Richmond B.C. if the newspaper was right!
Well, a big thank you to the person who gave you the scanner, Judith! You have some very special photos in your boxes. I'm really enjoying going through them, not to mention seeing those points add up!

Please welcome Betty Manning to our team. Because she's a new WikiTreer, it took until today to assign her a badge. She's uploaded her first photo. I don't think I figured out how to do that for quite a while after I joined, so well done, Betty!

I am starting to run out of items. Don't know how much are left....just have to see! Fun tho! I had been wanting to get these things posted for a long time!
You and me both, Jamie!
I really don't have much around my place to scan. I am waiting to see if my sister has anything in her collection. In the meantime, I have created a page for Strathcona Elementary school (where my dad was a teacher) and added some images to it. I am hoping someone with a family connection to the school will appreciate these. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Lord_Strathcona_Elementary_School

Also, I am doing some personal archiving. Nothing I can post to wiki tree but still good to have done. I have scanned all my class pictures from elementary school going back to kindergarten. What a laugh!

Great minds think alike, Peggy. I did one for Trinity College School. I've picked up a few good ideas from your page that I'm going to use in mine. Thanks!

I like the boys in the robes having tea!

BTW, I am having some trouble with posting to the forum. I don't know if it is my browser, computer, or the forum. Found a workaround by switching browsers though. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
HELP! I put a pic on the wrong side of the family! I have never been able to figure out how to delete something once it is posted. Can someone tell me how to fix it?
Easily fixed. Open the photo's page. At the left under Edit Image Details click the circle beside Remove from image. Then in the box below add the Wiki ID for the person in the photo.
Peggy, I've never had that problem. Since switching browsers seemed to work, maybe it was a browser issue???
yay! It worked! I would NEVER have figured that out on my own! thanks Laurie
Added a new picture: https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Fulton-2635-1

This work of art was created by my uncle and given to my parents on their anniversary. Definitely my favorite image of the weekend!
Every WikiTreer asks that question at some point, Jamie! Glad to pass along the answer.

Peggy, I can see why that's your favourite image. What a wonderful gift to receive.

Thanks for participating in WikiTree's first Scan-a-Thon. Well done everyone!
by Laurie Cruthers G2G6 Pilot (165k points)
I knew I had lots of stuff, but didn't know it was so much! So glad for the motivation to get it posted!
This was my first -thon. Though I have been around WikiTree long enough, I was in demand or uninterested. But I really enjoyed myself and see quite and improvement in my tree. I have not had feedback from family yet, so I think I'll encourage them to look.

Nor'Easters stopping by to congratulate all those that participated in the SCAT. Many photos, documents, gravesites, etc have been added to profiles making them much more informative to view.
