Is there somewhere on WikiTree where a gedcom file can be uploaded for work by several people?

With reference to: Archibald (Campbell) Campbell of Dunstaffnage (abt.1484-bef.1543) (... for whom I’ve just adopted this profile as there was no profile manager).

... I’ve a tree with sources:

“Other Sources

A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland

Argyll sass

Clan Campbell Pedigrees

Fragmentary Campbell Pedigrees

History of Cadets of Argyll

The Heraldry of the Campbells: with Notes on All the Males of the Family, Descriptions of the Arms, Plates and Pedigrees”

... going back a further three generations.

1000+ people also include King’s of Scotland.

I want to contribute but would need help!

Is there somewhere on WikiTree where a gedcom file can be uploaded for work by several people?

In a sense the whole of Wikitree is something like a gedcom which many people can work on.

If your aim is to register some complications about a family then what many of us do is start a freespace or project page that potentially affected profiles pages, and G2G discussions, can link to for reference. On such a project page, for example one about a specific family, you can collect notes, references, explain alternative theories etc.
Hi Andrew

Thank you for your comment.  The tree/gedcom contains 1000+ people/aristocrats of Scotland.  I'm unsure of where I uploaded it from and/or its accuracy.  Happy just to leave it sitting on Ancestry for now.
While Wikitree started this way, we now have so many underlying gedcoms that especially in pre-1500 we really now needed to switch over to piece work, family by family, individual by individual.

So in practice it would best if you compare your work, especially wherever the most work has been done, to what is already in wikitree. Then comment here on any problems you see in wikitree.

If on the other hand you are saying this is just a gedcom that got big by sticking together other gedcoms, and not necessarily the result of different work than other people's gedcoms, then there would not be any likely benefit to spending time on it.

Sorry, but the Help pages dont mention anything about multiple people working on one gedcom.

Hi, Leslie,

Without pre-1500 certification, you will not be able to edit this profile or add previous generations. It is also not possible to add or edit pre-1500 or pre-1700 profiles via GEDCOM/GEDCOMpare.

Hello Lesley,

to understand your question right: do you have a gedcom file that you want to upload and work on? Or are you looking for a gedcom file to work with?

Or, do you have information you want to convert into a gedcom file?

Regards

Ronald

Hi Ronald

Thank you for your reply. I've the tree as advised above on Ancestry. Possibly a source of information for Wikitree?  When I first asked the question above, there appeared to be more people and sources from this area on my tree, than there was at the time on Wikitree.

But been put off slightly doing anything with it.I

Regards

Lesley
I see you are a euroaristo project member. The tree includes King Henry II of France. Unsure of the tree's source ... where I uploaded the gedcom from? I have had it for a number of years!
