I'm hunting for descendants of (Indian Trader) John Evans that have been Y-DNA tested. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hmm, we only have two sons and one grandson attached to him. Do we know if he has more male line descendants?

I actually meant to tag his son John Evans (Trader John https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Evans-15969) and it appears no sons are listed here for him.  Over on Ancestry I have: Ludwell (1670-1738), John III (1698-1755), Robert (1701-1763), Stephen (1703-1755), and William (1710-1780).  There is another Evans researcher over there that has five sons listed for his father (the one tagged in my OP).  A lot of speculation exists over which ones are brothers vs children vs nephews of Trader John and dates are all over the place.  There was a lawsuit over the illegal ownership of an indian that sheds a little light on who is who but many holes still remain.  I've been stuck at my 4x grandfather for about 15 years.  Autosomal tests match me with a female descendent of Trader John so now I'm trying to work my way down from him and a Y-DNA match would really help firm up that I'm heading the correct direction.

Hello,

My tree can be found at Ancestry.com, "Evans, Harris, Watts, Bartmess and Campbell".  I'm not a member of this forum but it sounds interesting.  I may have signed in several years ago, not sure.  Please let me know if you have any questions about my Evans* Family.  Is this the Evans Family you are looking for?

Thank you,  Paul Campbell

That is the family but I'm trying to confirm if a Y connection to my Samuel Evans exists.  If he was a child of John Evans III and Elizabeth they had him 22 years after the prior and within a few years of their death.  John and Elizabeth had wills but there was no mention of a Samuel.  Another Evans is quite confident that the connection exists but they are basing it on autosomal results and I want the proof that a Y connection would provide.

Thanks!

I realized I failed to ask a vital question!  Are you a Y descendent of Trader John?

I am actively researching John Evans at this time, and ran across your post.  It may be too late, but thought I would pass this along.

The best chance for finding your related Y-DNA test takers would be to  join the Evans DNA project:  https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/evansdna-project/about
