The more that I look at my various family lines, the more confused I become.

It looks like all of my family lines end up in New England. That is my mother's side of the family and my father's side of the family.

But that is good news for you!  New England has an abundance of freely accessible online records to aid in your research and tons more that can be accessed with more work.  What sorts of things are confusing you?  Sorting out multiple people with similar names?  Resolving conflicting data? Figuring out how to find records?  With more guidance about your confusion, this forum can be a great place for you to find some clarity.

That;s not uncommon.  New Englanders spread all over.  I'm in Canada but have 87 ancestors that were part of the Pilgrim Migration.

You should detail what is confusing you. New England frustrated me because you'd find the same first and last name in 2 or 3 generations of cousins. Girls were named after their mothers, men remarried and had kids the age of their grand kids. And if those grandkids got named after the same relative that the same-age-cousin was you could have multiple generations of the family with the same first and last name and same age (roughly). They didn't seem very keen for keeping track of the years very well. Good luck tracking down a birth year.

The only thing that makes me appreciate 400 year old record keeping in new England is 100 year old records from Ireland. The whole town had the same last name there. And I'm pretty sure all of ireland had only 3 first names to pick from. Or that's how it feels trying to track down their 1800s relatives.
