my tintinger family only goes back as far as about 1850 in south africa doe anyoner know where they were before that

I can thru death records only find tintinger from about 1850 ,where were they before that and where did they originate ,I'm talking about south africa .the progenitor came from Elsaus France and was a soldier in the German.Legion

Not much to go on in your original post. There are Tintinger's in New Zealand who immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa 16 March 1977, (Ronald Tintinger 2 April 1933 from Johannesburg).

Barbar Tintinger (38) born about 1900 left Southampton, England for Cape Town, South Africa on German African Shipping line on 22 September 1938

Suggest that if the Tintinger Family were not long in South Africa, that you should look at the Tintingers of Germany and Rheinland, Prussia
