Need sourcing help Benjamin Small (Jr) 1680-1751 Virginia

There is an extraordinary amount of wrong or simply false information on Benjamin Small Jr (1680 Isle of Wight - 1751 Carteret, North Carolina) at Ancestry, Geni, etc. Additionally, records of father (also Benjamin) and son are frequently confused as are wives, as well as records of father and son John Small who appear to be brother and cousin to the Benjamins. I've sorted out what I can from primary and verifiable secondary sources I have.

What additional sources could be found beyond Quaker records for this time period in Virginia? Are original Chuckatuck MM records available online rather than the transcriptions? Need to verify a couple of things in the originals. Library of Virginia didn't seem to yield much on Benjamin but I am not always certain how to use their search engines and what those actually search.

I have held off creating profiles on his wives until more information can be collected to avoid a lot of the bad internet information being dumped into the profiles.

Are Carteret County North Carolina prop records from this period online somewhere?

Adding to this: I have found another set of Small family profiles commencing here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Small-1825

There also seem to be major conflicts in the Hollowell family lines. One well-documented source has Elizabeth b 31st 6th 1666 as dau of Edmund and Elizabeth Belson (i.e., she is not a Hollowell) who first marries John Scott, 2nd Henry Hollowell (in 1693) and third Benjamin Small in 1699 and that she had been a Quaker minister the last 11 years of her life. Other sources have her as Elizabeth Hollowell and there was one but I think these two Elizabeth's may have been confused.
TS, just now do you dig up all this stuff?!? I wish you the best working this out (and that you get the assistance you’re looking for).
Thanks, Pip. For some of this early Quaker stuff in Virginia and some in the Albemarle area of North Carolina a woman named Ruth Kline Ladd did some exceptional research (typescript) in 1974 entitled "One Ladd's Family." The research is very good, she cites sources, and when there are several potentials she will list them all and clearly state what can or cannot be proven from that information. 521 pages, covers a lot of surnames. Available at Ancestry (where I stumbled on it a year or two ago). Don't know where else it may be available online. Even when later research as uncovered something she did not her work is often helpful in understanding some very confused lineages where documentation is thin.

This doesn't answer your question, T, but may add an additional place to search. DrWilliam.org's page for Chuckatuck MM records indicates that it may also be identified as Nansemond Monthly Meeting.

These are some original images found when searching Ancestry's "U.S., Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935" for Benjamin Small, keyword Suffolk. I chose Suffolk because that was the county in which Chuckatuck MM records showed up.

These two might or might not be for the Benjamin in question, my eyeballs gave up after reading the marriage record:

Hope this helps

Thanks, Debi. That stuff is hard on the eyes.

I've noticed Ancestry uses Suffolk City as the "location" for a lot of these records and I don't always remember to check that. Chuckatuck had so many preparatory meetings and they covered such a wide area.  I run into PMs in the MM or YM records that I just don't know much about.
"...my eyeballs gave up after reading the marriage record..."

But Ranger (as in WWII) you accomplished your mission... :)
