Hi guys,

The Oceanic Cemeteries team page is now up. I am the new coordinator and want to meet you all and know what you are and can do to help move the project forward. I also want to hear your ideas and concerns.

If you go to the Oceania cemeteries team page and click on the country team you are from, you can add yourselves as members and we can build up our teams.

If you are not already volunteers for the cemeteries project but want to be, comment/reply below, with your country, and I will be in touch.

I'm slowly doing some NSW ones, Old Adaminaby & Cathcart after completing Bombala, old & new Nimmitabel, Bredbo, Michelago & Canowindra.
I'd like to join the Australian team! I'm on the border of the Blue Mountains + Central West of NSW so that is my focus.
Awesome Tess, thank you for your help and for letting me know :)
Thats great J Manners, thank you for joining, I will get that badge sorted out for you and add you to the team page :) be in touch soon!
Hi, I'm active in New Zealand, and doing quite a few cemeteries in Auckland and Waikato. Currently working on Waikaraka Cemetery which has over 20k interments, and we are nowhere near that with WikiTree entries. Only 205 of them as profiles atm on WikiTree (I have been actively adding and connecting). I have more than 600 photos from that cemetery, so there's still a bit more to do from my own notes. To track interments on this I have now started interment pages for letters of the alphabet (just done A and B this week) as there will be too many to fit on the one interment page.

I have created Freespace pages for many of the cemetery categories in Auckland and Waikato and have a combined spreadsheet that I use to update each on a regular basis. On most of the freespace pages I have tracking - so I can see how many have been added each time.

My local newspaper picked up on some of my work and published an article earlier this month.

One of my bug bears is formatting of tables. A few tables I have seen have dates with dd mm yy but it needs to be yyyy mmm dd for optimal sorting. My preference is also to have transcriptions with the linked photo rather than on the table as that can also make the table unwieldy and harder to scroll through. I also like it when the plot location is in the table as it helps to see who the likely relatives are ...e.g. 70 and 70A will usually be related and having the info in the table helps searching that way. I have also added people to the table that do not as yet have profiles as bulk adding the people to the table is easier and I can add profiles more easily after that. Also not every column needs to be a sortable column, although it doesn't hurt. While sorting by age at death is not common some people might want to research how many infants were interred or how many centenarians.

I'm on the fringe in New Zealand,  I don't really add profiles to the Categories or Free Space pages but look @ locations. These are the ones they have or haven't been given, of the semi random cemeteries that we have had in the past or just appear (with one or two profiles attached) as many Profile managers know what the Cemetery is called but aren't sure how to create the correct pages for it, but try, and then I attempt to line them up with actual locations and link them up correctly

Yes I have been doing that too. I like to do it manually so that I can add each one to the table for the cemetery as I go. I can also check details on the table for ones already there, and tag any untagged photos. I usually work on one at a time, but sometimes I will have 2 or 3 that I'm amending the cemetery categories for.

I'm in NSW Australia near Wyong, I would like to focus on the Avondale Adventist Cemetery at Cooranbong, NSW, I have a few relatives there.  I have a slight mobility issue but would be happy to just focus on this one cemetery for a while.
