I attended college at The Art Institute of Dallas, and in one of my classes we were taught how to colorize photos. This is the first photo I ever colorized. I shared a photo a while back of Jacob and his wife. This is him at age 14 . I love his western clothing.

I wanted to share this family photo of Jacob Miller with the community. Location: Whitewright, Grayson County, Texas, USA. Date: 1895.

Katrina, nice job of adding a little bit of color without taking away the old feel of the picture.

He looks like he could have been a bank robber with the scarf around his neck.  I love his pocket watch, and he sure did have a head full of hair.

He has an awesome vest and I love his hat. I read the profile on Jacob and he lived an interesting life. He married his first cousin and had a son. After she died, he married another woman, but she just up and left. They never spoke again.

Jacob looks a little older than 14 in this picture and I found this picture on another site where it said that he was 16, but you can never tell.

Also read where he said that he was a farmer and his draft records said that he was lying, but his census records said that was how he made a living.

Very interest, and it made my night by reading about Jacob.

Thank you so much for sharing this picture of Jacob with your WikiTree family.

Happy New Year and God Bless.

Thanks for the comments. Jacob is around 14-16 in this photo. In the late 1890's the Miller family had their individual photos taken at a photography studio. Honestly, I think they're wearing borrowed clothing, but a year, or two later, their group photo was taken and some of the boys look like they're wearing the same suits and the mother is wearing the same dress. Everything is just shabbier. Jacob was an interesting man, I wish I would have known him and Wayne. Wayne was wrongfully described as mentally challenged (they used the R word) in the Miller family history book written in the 1980's by, Elinor. I'm good friends with Wayne's cousin in, Kentucky. He said there wasn't a thing wrong with Wayne. His parents just happened to be first cousins.
That is sad, Katrina. I think I may have seen the picture that you are talking about.  I added a couple of census records to your profile, FAG, and I think his Draft records. That is where I found the additional information. I guess people were mean back then just like they are now. I just don't understand why people can't be nice.
It is. Unfortunately, that is how people acted in the olden days. I uploaded a photo of Wayne. He looks just like his father, except he has blonde hair and blue eyes. According to Wayne's WWII Draft Card, he had a blue tattoo on his arm. I wonder what it was?
Thank you Susan, for selecting my answer. I hope you have a Happy New Year!

A handsome young man. I like the clothes also. Do I see a pocket watch in his left vest pocket? The coloring is nice congratulations. It looks natural like. Thanks for sharing your family and your talents with us.

Thanks! I enjoyed colorizing this photo. I used details found on his WWI Draft Card. Yes, there is a pocket watch.

I'm not too good at wearing hats, but I do love a good vest! Jacob sure does look older than his 14 years. Nice work on the colorization, Katrina.

I like wearing hats but they kind of hide the very wide part in my hair that I like very much.
