Advice before editing this pre-1700 Elliot profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of John Elliot. This is what I can add:

• spouse Agnes Mader. John and Agnes as parents of John Elliot (spouse of Margaret Jordan) based on information feom Old Parochial Records of Hawick Parish as provided by a researcher. Unconfirmed. Based on age at marriage of son John and naming traditions. are the sources 

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Kim, I think it would help to put some location data on this profile (even just the country so others know where this profile belongs geographically) even if you have to mark it uncertain. Also, I would suggest give the location of Hawick Parish you are referencing and the source of the research you are citing. Do you mean it is unconfirmed as you have not see the original source or a transcription?

Also, learning to use the inline citations isn't as daunting as it may seem. When you go into Edit, "How to add Sources" to the right side of the profile box gives you the basics and links to more detail if needed.
