The James French born in Lancaster (father of Lot C French) gives dates as 1744 - 1815, but includes a note stating that the correct dates are 1740 - 1783. (This is confusing enough).
But there is another James French, b 1744 in Berkes Penn., son of James and Margaret (Lot's grandparents), father of Benjamin; dying in 1834.
Are these the same people? If not, which is the correct father of Lot C French, (as right now, both of them fit the descriptions from other sites) and what is the correct date of death?
