Marriage conundrum

Two first cousins were born in the same town 1 year apart Joannes Zeiner in 1680 and Joannes Zeyner aka Zeiner in 1679. One married Rosina Kollerin  in 1709, the other Catharina Jaukerin in 1715. Conventions at that time do not list the parents of the couple, just the origin, which is of course the same for both. Do I just pick at random and mention the other Joannes as a possibility in the bio or what?

I would be inclined to put both women in Research Notes of each man’s profile with an explanation. Then hope that in the future you will be able to work out the truth and create profiles for each woman.

A tough one. The obvious challenge is that it is long enough ago that a mistake will propagate for many generations.

My solution would be to document both possibilities, and leave it a while. It is truly amazing that eventually some document will provide a more definitive answer.

good luck!
