DNA Comparisons

I've run into this situation several times where I find another member's DNA kit listed, I try to compare and it comes back as an error. Does this have anything to do with the BETA on GEDmatch or is it something else? In every case, the "numbers" look very different than mine, they are longer eg. they might have two alphas and extra numbers. Are the numbers invalid or is this something different?

GEDmatch has two sites, the original one and the new Genesis GEDmatch site with URL

genesis.gedmatch.com

The original site is now antiquated and all kits there have been migrated to Genesis.  All new uploads must be at the Genesis site.  You can still use the original site, but only with kits that were originally uploaded there.  You'll get an error if you try to use a new kit (identifiable with the longer kit number -- the two initial letters no longer have any particular meaning) at the old site.  Login at the above URL with your same username and password.  You can do 1-1 comparisons there using kit numbers either from the old site or from Genesis, mix-and-match.
