A string of pre-1700 Christophers now orphaned

I have just orphaned a string of Christophers, I understand that there are family trees that include them in Ancestry but do not have an Ancestry account to follow that up. From a roots web discussion, I have the impression that their existence may be more fanciful than actual. They arrived here unsourced, I wonder if it is worthwhile someone at least attach an ancestry link if it thought they are worth spending time on?

Got as far back as Christopher-279 ... unable to locate anything further for his ancestors.  Hopefully my comments added for his descendants will be of help to someone?

It’s hard enough chasing real ancestors, why make up phantom ones?

They might think it fun at the time, but end up looking a jerk!

I just looked these Christophers up on Ancestry. They are indeed a fanciful collection of imaginary men. One was according to this tree married to the Queen of Norway. It looks to me like a case of bad genealogy run amok. What sources are included are unlikely to pertain to the person they are attached to, ie. a baptismal record for a child in Lancashire attached to a child born in Kent. Not sure what should be done with them.

Best answer, because, for some reason my voting resulted in a down vote which was not at all what was intended. I understood from the rootsweb comments that these Christophers were an assemblage rather than a genealogy. I think that comments on each profile giving a source for that individual person with a note that it has been included inappropriately in a genealogy with ..... parent & / or .... child is the way to go. Perhaps they should be disconnected but for now left in string until all have sources?

I changed best answer to Lesley who managed to find some Christophers.  in Kent.

Thank you Jeanie :-)
