According to the "Alabama Death Records" on Ancestry.com, THADUS THOMAS GORDON, born about 1876, died Feb. 2, 1957 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama; the Death record states that his father is LARRY GORDON; his mother is SARAH BARTON. (Volume 6, Certificate #2897, Roll 4).
His mother's maiden name was actually "BAINES/BANES" - it could be a transcription error from this Death record.
His father's full name was JAMES LAWRENCE "LARRY" GORDON, born Dec 1846 in South Carolina and died May 15, 1913 in Jefferson Co., Alabama. (Vol. 19, Certificate #95, Roll 1).
His mother's full name was SARAH C BAINES/BANES GORDON, born Oct 1847 in (probably) Noxubee Co., Mississippi; died March 18,1921 in Haleyville, Winston Co., Alabama (Vol. 12, Roll 2, Page 5581). The Death Certificate states that she died at the age of 75, her spouse was L GORDON; her father is MATTHEW BANE; her mother is SUSAN MOLONE. (FHL Film #1908228)
You may find it interesting that THADDEUS's father, JAMES LAWRENCE GORDON, had a younger brother named THADDEUS.
