Wiki link doesn't appear in GEDMatch, and my kit says No WikiTree link

+2 votes

I'm trying to add my Wiki link to GEDMatch so that it appears in One-To-Many match lists.  I looked here, here, and here for tips:

I'm not using an alias and, besides, there is no option for me to "Enable even if Alias" in GEDMatch.  All I see is "No WikiTree link".  Next to that is empty gray space.  My WikiTree profile's privacy is set to Private with Public Family Tree.  I added my GEDMatch ID to my DNA tests in WikiTree in Dec 2016 when I first joined WikiTree.  I'm using the same email address on GEDMatch as on WikiTree.  For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make the wiki link appear.  My WikiTree profile is Rondem-7.

Should I try deleting and re-adding my DNA kits in WikiTree?

I waited one day for the wiki link to appear.  Do I simply need to be more patient and wait another couple of days?  I'm accustomed to settings taking effect quickly even across a LAN or WAN.  Is the delay intentional with some kind of rationale, or is it more along the lines of distant servers needing to synchronize and run cross-checks?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

I hope someone has a more complete answer for you, but Gedmatch is undergoing a transition.  They previously had two websites, Gedmatch (the traditional one) and Gedmatch Genesis, which accepted kits from DNA companies that had a different type of chip that wasn't easily compared to the kits on the original site.

Recently, they have progressed to a point where they merged the two sites, so that all kits can be compared.  They are no longer accepting uploads to the "old" site.  The old site had a lot of good features, including the Wikitree link.  The newly merged site doesn't seem to have the ability to show the Wikitree links-- "yet".  I assume (but don't really know) that some day they will add some functions that were on the original site that are not available at the new site.

I'm hoping that patience is the key.  I don't think you can add your Wikitree information right now.

Genesis' Tier 1 membership does show the Wiki link.  Let's hope they will soon make that link a freebie.
If I'm understanding correctly, I'm already on Gedmatch Genesis without having to do anything further?  Perhaps I'll sign up for Tier 1 in a few days if my wiki link still doesn't appear, and I'll see if that makes a difference.  Thanks.
If your kit was migrated with no issues through to

you will have no problems using their system. but a few 1000 kits were lost.

now the problem is the wikitree uses a link out to the old server still, it query's the old server, is a dead site. Instead of querying the new server.

if wikitree fixes the compare to gedmatch link, to point to the new server. all will be well. Because it can use old or new kit numbers.
