Just uploaded a scan of an inscription my grandmother wrote to my grandfather, on Jan 11, 1922

Inscription written by Ora Mae Sturm

What a wonderful idea, Rick!  You captured not only her handwriting, but also a lovely sentiment.  I'm going to copy your idea and scan the inscription on the back of a photo when my grandparents were dating.

Good morning from the Mighty Maple Leaves! I've forgotten how to post pics on a G2G thread, along with a great many other things. Can someone please post the instructions. Thanks!

To post a photo in G2G, you need to first get the url of the picture. Go to the picture's page, click on the picture so that it is the only thing in your window, then copy the url from the address bar.

Then come here, open your comment or answer and click on the picture icon. If you hover your mouse, it says "image." Click on that and paste the image url. Hit okay and you are all set.
Thanks, Lucy!

Looking at the pictures that have been uploaded so far I wish there was a way to tag photos.

What if we could tag a photo with, for example, the decade they belong to and then be able to browse all (open) photos of that decade from all over the world... looking at the cars, the building styles and most of all, their clothes. Or to use a wedding tag to be able to browse wedding photos from around the word of a certain decade, you get the idea...

Now that would be cool!!

What a great idea, Maggie!  That might help us to identify the time period for other photos by comparing known photos.
This is a great idea.

A related feature I'd like is the ability to record an imprecise date for an image. I uploaded a photo today that's dated "summer 1924," but I had to mark it as "1924." My recent photos have very precise dates because the camera records them for me, but for old family photos we're lucky to have that, and descriptors like "summer" and "fall" can be very helpful.

ADDED: https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Smith-167012-1 is a photo that I would like to tag with the date "1930s," since that's the closest thing I have to a date for it. This is a photo of my great uncle and his wife preparing a picnic meal in scenic southern California. I think their vehicle (although only a door is visible), their outdoor cooking gear, my great uncle's necktie (really!), and my great aunt's dress are the kinds of elements that could be interesting to display in chronological sequence -- and I think it would be misleading to stick a date like "about 1934" on an image like this.

Good morning from a sunny but cool Cathey’s Creek, North Carolina! All going well. Laptop recovered, but now having problems again. I did copy everything over to a removable drive, so I can continue to work from my desktop.

Loving this “Thon.” Is this great or what!?!” laughyesheart

I am so confused that I am not up to much except scratching my head! I am trying to add a friend to my team but she has been added to another team, and she wants to jump ship. How do we do that?

And how do I make people into Trusted Servants or whatever it's called???

AAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!
by Carolynn McLaughlin G2G1 (1.3k points)
not sure about jumping ship but go to the profile you want to add them to, open privacy tab, and look all the way at the bottom for "add to trusted list".

I took advance of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to help a recent new member Pamela Mays (Mays-1540) whom I have known since 1988, when we were next door neighbors. I had helped her to learn more about WikiTree and walked her through adding her family tree (of about 100 people so far). Last year, she and her daughter Alyssa (and newest granddaughter) came to visit. We went through scrapbooks and photos from her family collections. So I dugged them out, and that is my Friday project to add more photos to her tree. Some she already had done, some not.  ANYWAY, Go Southern Super Sweepers!!

I'm just going through what I have and now seeing that I will probably have to locate and bring out the slides for tomorrow. I got through my 7 grave photos, lol.

I have a couple favorites actually. Mila with a Customer and Mila's Bar can both be found here. A really nice one of my 2nd Great Grandmother Lydia Killips Porter that they actually had made into a postcard here and lastly the My Momma Uses Atlas Flour here.

Kiwi Crew checking in. So far there are just three of us - but we are slowly and surely adding photos. Myself, Lianne and Darren.

Oh that was close. I accidently uploaded a death certificate to the wrong profile, and it took me a while to figure out how to reconnect it to the correct profile. But it's all fixed now!! Phew!!

Silly ladies all being named Elizabeth. Makes it hard to keep the Maiden names and Married names straight in my head!!  LOL
Ok it's now 10 pm at night and I have found and uploaded around 30 photos. Mostly on my side of the family. Not sure if I have any more to do.

Tomorrow I may dig around and see what I can upload from my husbands side.

This is definitely my short day of the Scan-a-Thon, since I worked all day. Right now I'm setting up my scanner, since I realised I haven't actually used it since replacing my computer! So I have to install all the software and everything.

I have two potential sources of scanning material this weekend. One is a bag of photos from my husband's family. Some are definitely of living people, but I'm hoping there are a fair few older ones in there that can be public and count for the challenge. The other is an album from a family not technically related to me: that of my great grandfather's first wife's family! I think I started scanning them a long time ago, so I'll have to figure out where I left off.

I'm so happy for this motivation to get my scanning done! It's been way too long.

Uploading some family photos that were already on my computer. This is one of my favorites. In the foreground is my Grandmother's Aunt Mary Sanders. I think the boy in the background with no shirt and a kerchief around his neck is my dad. His dad grew prize watermelons on the family farm in Bluff City, Sullivan County, Tennessee. Aunt Mary is known for the Girl Scout song books she compiled. Estimated date 1940
