I wanted to share this family photo of Charles Leger with the community. Location: Barbourville, Kentucky. Date: unknown. This is the home my father grew up in. My grandfather built it. Always love this old house.

Love older homes, particularly ones that were built by the family. I'm lucky to live in my grandfather's home now standing strong for a century. Thanks for sharing this one, Loretta.
It was my dream to buy the Homeplace but life changes things along the way. :(

OMG! I want a house like that! It’s just beautiful.

My wife’s originally from Harrodsburg. I love Kentucky!

The last time I visited Barbourville, the couple who purchased the house were upgrading but keeping everything to the correct time period. It was absolutely beautiful. I think the Cumberland River ran along the back of the property. We used to fish in the pond out back and I gathered eggs from the two huge hen houses. It is a little slice of heaven on earth.

Look at that gorgeous house. Not just one wrap around porch but two wrap around porches. The majestic deciduous trees, I don't know what  they are but look at them so proudly standing in all their majestic grandeur as if they were appointed as sentry to welcome all visitors.

Such a beautiful description you wrote. I remember apple trees everywhere. Yes, it was a most welcoming home. 2 large living areas, dining room, kitchen and 8 enormous bedrooms. Notice I didn't mention a powder room. Indoor plumbing was installed in 1965, prior to that it was a number 3 tub and path. The back porch housed a water well and a old wringer type washing machine.

Every August, my father's family gathered in this grand home for family reunions. Imagine 100+ family members spilling out the doors and down the hill where the house stood. As a child, it never occurred to me this grand home wouldn't be in the family for all times. Such beautiful memories.
Thank you Loretta. I only say what I see. It looks like a family friendly home. I thought it was still in your family or maybe I would not have seen as much into the picture. If I knew the were apple trees, I would never make my way to that beautiful house. Grandma must have made a delicious apple pie. Your grandfather did a wonderful job building your house. BTW, I live in my childhood home. When I am alone and able to clear my mind, the memories pour in so I understand your memories. And  nobody can take that away.
