*takes a bow* (rhymes with wow, not hoe)

*beams and leaves*  laugh

Oh my gosh, you all are so adorable.  I love you!
Pip,

Look you great!

Taylor
I guess 9 lbs 2 oz was a harbinger of things to come: 6’ 3” 235 lbs.

Looking great Pip ! wink

Glad to be your cousin...looks like we carry some of the same physical traits... I was (in the good ole days) 5' 11", 170 lbs...now as age creeps up, height is creeping down, 5' 9" last I checked. lol
I bet if I checked I’d be less than 6’ 3” now, too!

Power still out. Gots many more pics to scan!! Darn it!

You're at least 1/2 inch shorter at the end of the day than when you get out of bed in the morning.  (Compression.)

Over time, so I was told, this compression doesn't recover as well, so we "shrink" in height.

Ugh! At least I got a good head start. My grandfather used to say he was taller than my grandmother when the got married. I’m not so sure I believe it. Compression was his excuse. laugh

My hubby was 6' 3" when he was younger.  If he had been able to stand fully upright, he'd still have been around 6' 2"; but his spinal stenosis (and a couple of other issues) meant he had a forward stoop that brought him down closer to 6'.

I know I'm 5' 8" on a good day, but due to an automobile accident decades ago I have severe spinal compression and most days wouldn't top 5' 7".  (On "bad" days I'd be lucky to hit 5' 6".  On really "bad" days, it's more likely around 4' or so, due to the inability to stand. cheeky)

Huh. You look like one of my old professors from college.
by Chris Ferraiolo G2G6 Pilot (767k points)

Define old (and be careful!). laugh

Old as in I graduated from college in 2002. And your hair and moustache reminds me of my professor.
I'm definitely not old - just very precocious.  I got college degrees in 1962, 1968, and 1971, which were all many years before I was born.  I was born in 1998 and next year I'll have been born in 1999 - that's how my age doesn't change.
Gaile is Gallifreyan.
omigosh, Chris, you sent me running to my funk-n-wagnalls, which doesn't have that word.  Google told me it's a fictional language, so I guess what you meant is that I lead a fictional existence, huh?

You don't know Gallifrey?!  surprise  surprise surprise

Melanie, when you've been 21 as long as I have, there's a lot of newfangled stuff you don't know about.
That's okay. I'll educate you in the quickest way possible.

Gallifrey is the home planet of the Doctor from Doctor Who. The Doctor is a Gallifreyan who has become a Time Lord/Lady. Time Lords have the ability to live for hundreds if not thousands of years and on occasion regenerate into new bodies. The Doctor is now on her 14th life.

New fangled?  I was a Doctor fan before it was a thing. cheeky

I'm a FIRST Doctor girl.  I don't know anyone who remembers that far back.  I've had supposedly "rabid" fans (who thought they "knew it all") be astonished that the First Doctor had a granddaughter and left her on earth.

(edited to fix a stooped typo)

Haha, to me The Doctor will always be Tom Baker.  I was shocked to see on Wikipedia, that there were three before him.  sad  I am so un-hip.  blush

OLD SCHOOL Daleks!   Exterminate. Exterminate. Exterminateexterminateexterminate.

Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Baker, Davison, Baker .. those were the days.

Back then "The Doctor" had not yet become a pop phrase, but I took great delight (then AND now) in referring to my ancestor as "The Doctor".  I have a hoodie that declares "I was a WHOVIAN before it was cool . . . Not to mention BEFORE YOU WERE BORN".
smiley

(edited to correct the slogan on my hoodie)

Mel, Susan was his granddaughter. Ironically, the 7th Doctor had a companion named Mel. =)

To date there hasn't been a bad actor to play the Doctor. Colin Baker included. His audio dramas on Big Finish are really good.

I have a few dvds for each Doctor. Favorite Classic doctor is Tom Baker. Modern Doctor is Matt Smith. Though, Whittaker is getting up there.

Funny thing is most Americans only knew of Tom Baker since his run lasted seven years. And that run was brought over and put on PBS. Most people see him as THE Doctor. Loved his scene in the 50th anniversary special:

Yeah, my bad.  blush (I shall not, however, turn in my imaginary #1 fan badge.)

I mistyped that and forgot to come back and edit it.  (I went looking for my hoodie, so I could get the wording correct.)

I have the "modern" series on DVD up to when Capaldi took on the role, plus the entire Tom Baker run; gifts from hubby.  He had intended to keep gifting until I had all that was available, but then he had the nerve to up and die on me last year.  (He also gifted me with the entire Walker, Texas Ranger series (my mother had been a huge fan when she was alive).)

Yeah, hubby only knew of Tom Baker's Doctor until I re-educated him!  (He was an Illinois boy, born and bred.  (I used to call him "city boy". cheeky))

To continue the Whovian "theme" .. here's a pic of my hoodie. smiley

I heartmy hoodie (another gifting from hubby).
