Oscar Manwaring haad an "Invention" that made him a lot of money, do you know what it was

Oscar A W Manwaring was my cousins great grandfather, she can remember her grandmother complaining about her father 'wasting his money' after he invented something (she though it was the hills hoist or the roller door) but I can't find any information on what it could be. I found the hills hoist was invented in Adelaide by a bloke called Hills, so that is out, but I can't find who invented the roller door...

Do you have any idea of what he invented? I know he lived in Manly and his 3 daughters Ilma, Mais and Ena were born there but can't find his invention. What ever it was it made him a LOT of money.
