GEDmatch compare link on WikiTree: Classic or Genesis?

+11 votes
i really like the feature here in WikiTree that lets us compare GEDmatch kits right on the profile of our possible that GEDmatch has Genesis up and running, i was just wondering if the links are updated to use the Genesis site?  Or does it even matter?

WIkiTree link is still not available as of today as is the ability to see GEDCOM linked trees.  Hopefully someone will post when this available. It would seem those links would have been simple to migrate and would help with more adoption/input during the beta period.  Does WikTree have any ability to advocate for this sooner than later?

WikiTree has everything in place to make this change - we are currently waiting for GEDmatch to work some magic on their end.

It matters, matters a lot!  Only compares of classic type GEDmatch ID's are working, and that is the site that is going to be taken down, we understand.  Genesis ID's are not working at all now, and the compare links don't go to the Genesis site for comparisons.  So we're waiting for the devs to update it for the GEDmatch Genesis transition.  But I wouldn't be surprised if they are waiting for the transition to complete, in case of more changes.

This needs to be addressed soon. Genesis is now the standard. Gedmatch Compare should be reprogrammed to continue  using the OLD Gedmatch kit number and the NEW Gedmatch-Genesis kit numbers. The NEW numbers should show up on all profiles.

Hi Ronald,

You can monitor the status of that particular initiative here.

Hi Shirlea,

You can actually successfully do Genesis one-to-many and one-to-one comparisons, and use any of the other Genesis functionality that is already working by logging in directly to the Genesis site. But it still states quite clearly on the login page that it is "early Beta test code".

Some of the new/existing Tier 1 stuff appears to be working on the Genesis site. But, for example, much of the existing "classic" site base/free columns/functionality of the one-to-many comparison reports have not been migrated forward yet to the base/free Genesis one-to-many reports.

The classic Gedmatch site is still active, but no longer the primary site. All new downloads go through the Genesis site. Hopefully is prepared to make the appropriate adjustments for the WikiTree links to Gedmatch Genesis.
