Can anyone with suitable access to view a marriage record in Cambridge help ?

3 May 1856 William Knowles Garner married Mary Ann Stokes at Christchurch St Andrew the Less, Cambridge. I have conflicting information regarding her father's name, either James or Edward.

Any assistance will be appreciated!

For an 1856 marriage, you will have to purchase a marriage certificate.  These are not online.  Civil registration started in late 1837.  Go to FreeBMD and search to get the reference number for the certificate.

Cambridgeshire Family History Society gives her father's name as James.

Thanks Ros, I was hoping there might be parish records available on pay - sites perhaps, - I guess if I had done the Orphans Trail I would know these things ! :) Your indication that it's probably "James" gets me stuck - I was hoping for "Edward" for whom I can find fairly convincing records . . .!

Regards
I got the CFHS transcript from FindMyPast.  There was no image, I'm afraid. :(
I suspect it is Edward. Her father's occupation is listed as Fisherman in the transcription at FindMyPast, and Edward is listed as Fishmonger in census records. It may be a simple transcription error or a  misrecording by the clerk/registrar. It's also possible his name was James Edward or Edward James.
Thanks for inputs. Yes, the James Edward / Edward James possibility is something I have just considered investigating, thanks. Meanwhile I have added new "evidence" to my research notes on the profile, fairly conclusively supporting the parentage (Edward) I have on the profile, from the very same publication that alleges that her father is James! - the Wakeling name link!

Thanks Martin, yes I have that census record on the profile. The allegation by descendants is that her marriage record made her father James, Fishmonger, not Edward, Fishmonger. The only Mary d/o James that I find on the '51 census in the Ely area was born around 1844 so a bit young to have married in 1856, and that James was not a fishmonger, but an Ag. Lab.  I have also looked for possible Edward James and James Edward births etc which could explain the confusion, but no luck.  Thanks again for taking a look. I guess the only really conclusive solution is to see that marriage record, but I also can't imagine that even the worst handwriting could make Edward look like James!
