Which goes directly to the Charles Pate that died 1824.  Now you saying that  the will dated 1824 is his brother?  Make up your mind.
You might be better off just working on the profiles you have, without sources, and put this one aside for now.  I have to do that when i come to a brick wall, too.
Thanks Deb for finding the Charles Pate will.
Oh, did I fail to mention that besides his three sons he also named his wife, Phoebe. His son John is named executor. If Charles Pate who you say was born about 1790 were the subject of this will, he couldn’t possibly have had a son old enough to be executor, not to mention the several grandchildren he mentions.
Actually and ironically, father and son died almost the same time. It is easy for someone to get confused in that case.
The son would not have been old enough to have multiple grown children and multiple grandchildren. No matter how you cut it, Howard, this Charles Pate isn’t your guy’s father.
He is this Charles Pate's brother.

This is totally confusing.  Didf you mean Charles b 1755 son Charles b 1790 died at almost same time as same as Charles b 1755?  Or do you mean Charles b 1755 had a brother Charles?  How do you know, you have no children listed on profile for Charles Pate b 1755, no mention of children at all.

A Charles Pate  b 1790 in NC was alive and well on 1850 census in Baker Co, GA.

Thank you, Sandra, but I fear it's hopeless. As the saying goes, "There are none so blind as those who will not see." Howard is going to have to come to grips with this brick wall in his own way and time. It's always frustrating and tends to make us grab at any straw as we all well know.
In that case, everything that was written about then may be suspicious. I didn't come up with this. It is right there in plain sight.
As for you Deb, I am not grasping at straws. I go by what is written in front of me. That may be the problem, but Kelly Hardcastle put a document online that showed Abimilec Pate as born in Robeson County,North Carolina. If you want me to send it to you, email me at my personal email address. Then, you will say oh Howard knew what he was saying all along.

Howard, I find it hard to see how you can connect these people, apart from same LNAB. They are totally unsourced!
