What are the first names of the Partridge family that left Middlesex England for Australia? This info would help pinpoint a more accurate ancestor.
To where in Aus?  Any forenames? A best guess as to the year they moved?
Hi Frank. I’m looking for a  Mark  James (Thomas) Partridge who was born in Islington Middlesex in 1849. He married in 1886 in Inverell NSW. An obituary in the local paper in 1925 mentioned that he immigrated with his family to Australia - however did not mention where to. His father was James and his mother was Eliza née Walsh. His death certificate states that he was living  in Australia and New Zealand for around 70 years. Hope this is helpful

Do you know if he travelled alone, or with parents and/or siblings?

Any better guess than "sometime after 1845"?
Given that he would have been approximately 6 years old - if the obituary is correct and the death certificate is correct then I imagine that he came with his family - parents and sibings
Right .. then there should be something on the shipping records.  Any better guess than before 1845?  Any idea about ship name?  Which state they arrived?

(I have had some wonderful finds in the NSWSA recently .. full and complete passenger lists.  It's terrific!)
What are the names of his siblings?  Anything else that will help us help you?
I have a James (26), wife Elizabeth (21), son James (4) on a ship in 1855.  Don't suppose that's a possibility?
It’s possible as Mark Thomas was also registered as Mark James on the birth certificate
I’m afraid that I don’t know of any siblings names
It wont be before 1845 as that was when he was born
Familysearch.org  has him as Mark James Partridge, 1849, Islington, London, England.

Did not find a marriage of James Partridge to Eliza Walsh in the UK.
I've found the marriage of James Partridge and Eliza Walsh: Ref: England & Wales Marriage Register Index 1837-2005 / Islington Vol.3 p.180 - Q4 1845 marriage of James Partridge & Eliza Walsh. You can apply online to get the marriage certificate, which will have the couple's ages, parents names, abode and the profession of the men; plus any witnesses (which might identify siblings).

Birth of Mark James Partridge was registered in Q1 1849, mother's maiden name "Walsh", England & Wales Birth Index 1837-2006 / Islington Vol.3 p.314 .

Mark Thomas Partridge, son of James Partridge and Eliza, was baptised on 4 February 1849 at All Saints, Islington, Middlesex - see https://www.ancestry.co.uk/sharing/15514696?h=5acc9d.

It looks like the family was still living in England in 1861, as I think this is Mark in the 1861 census with his parents James and Eliza and his siblings Luke, Eliza and Matthew (mis-transcribed as William) - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7XN-98S (James is a carpenter which matches what the baptism record says).

According to https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp the following children were born with surname Partridge and mother's maiden name Walsh:

PARTRIDGE, LUKE  JAMES              WALSH
GRO Reference: 1847  M Quarter in THE ISLINGTON DISTRICT  Volume 03  Page 285

PARTRIDGE, MARK  JAMES              WALSH
GRO Reference: 1849  M Quarter in THE ISLINGTON DISTRICT  Volume 03  Page 314

PARTRIDGE, ELIZA  MARY ANN          WALSH
GRO Reference: 1851  M Quarter in THE ISLINGTON DISTRICT  Volume 03  Page 327

PARTRIDGE, MATTHEW  GEORGE          WALSH
GRO Reference: 1854  M Quarter in THE ISLINGTON DISTRICT  Volume 01B  Page 206

Looking at the image of the 1861 census (https://www.ancestry.co.uk/sharing/15514772?h=bf531a) the last child has been mis-transcribed on the FamilySearch entry and it does actually say Matthew not William.

Hi Judy,

Please check your family tree. I had added references, plus profiles of the siblings and parents of Mark James Partridge, back in Aug 2018. Today, I have updated the references and biographies of MJP's siblings.

Kind regards,

Stewart
