Ancestor from Springe, Region Hannover, Lower Saxony

I believe my second great grandmother was Anna Sophia GAUS, and was likely born in Gifhorn, Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany about 1826 give or take.  Is anyone out there who can examine records from Gifhorn, Germany and tell me more about her family (parents, siblings, etc.) and her early life.  Anna emigrated to the USA in about 1852 and I have some information about her life here, although I cannot find her death record.  I have no definitive information about her life in Germany.  She married Christoph Zimmerman in Germany before she emigrated and had three children in Germany.  If you can add to my knowledge of this person I would be GREATLY appreciative.

Hi Carlton,

If you add the tag GERMAN_ROOTS you might get some replies.

Hi, I too have ancestors from Gifhorn and Sprakensehl in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony).  One of the sites I use (either Ancestry or MyHeritage - can't recall which ) has church records for the area.  The problem is that a limited range of first names were used in rolling succession, so you get Johann Wilhelm Friedrich AND Wilhelm Johann Friedrich AND then Friedrich Wilhelm Johann ... ad infinitum. It makes it extremely difficult to be certain you have found the correct ancestor.

Have you tried looking at http://www.ortsfamilienbuecher.de/ yet?  They have transcribed the baptism, marriage and death records of many churches across Niedersachsen.  At first glance I didn't see anyplace called Springe or Gifhorn, but then the records are listed under churches not individual towns.  I also took a quick look at the Gaus family in http://gedbas.genealogy.net/ - most of the family there seems to be from Baden-Wuerttemberg.  This last site is a compilation of individual family trees from Germany and transcriptions of vital statistics from churches.
