Arthur Whiteford Stoddard Tom Thatcher

Question

My great grandfather was born with this glorified name but we only know he simplified it to "Tom Thatcher" and died in Worthing 1960, We know he married a Scot called Mary Williamson Stewart and on his Wedding certificate hif Father was a Walter Thatcher(doctor of Medicine), Mother Louisa nee Elliott. We can find no other record of Walter or Louisa and have been trying for many years can anyone enlighten us as to "Toms" hereditary please
