Is it good practice to upload a wedding certificate on both parties profiles? [closed]

It does seem like double work, but if someone searches for an individual they will see all source details (like marriages etc) if the details and links are posted on both parties pages. Just wondering if this is the right way to go. The same would apply to photos etc.

You can upload an image once and link it to multiple profiles. Click on the image, scroll down to the section "Edit Image Details" and link by putting in the ID of the profile you want to link it to, or select someone from your watchlist. Then click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
Thanks for all the answers. This has been most beneficial. Works beautifully.

You don't need to upload it twice. Upload it to one person, then you can tag (not sure the term) the spouse and it will show on both profiles.

Once you've uploaded the certificate, look on the right-hand side of the photo's page. Under the "In this image:" heading, you will see one spouse listed. Click the [add/edit] link under their name, then look for the "People & Things in the Image" section. Add the other spouse's wiki ID in the box labeled "Add person or free-space profile:" or select their name from the Watchlist box. Lastly, click the button that says "SAVE CHANGES TO IMAGE DETAILS". Ta da!

Here's an example for you: https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Faws-1 I uploaded the photo to Agnes, then added Floyd and Howard. As you can see, the photo is visible on all 3 profiles.

Let me know if you still have questions.

Hi Grant,

That's the approach that I take. As you mentioned (and per WikiTree guidelines), we want to have all the sources documented in a profile that support the facts and relationships in the profile.

If you have a photo or a source image that is a source for a large number of profiles, such as a group photo, or a marriage document that names groom, bride, both sets of parents, and other witnesses, you may want to create a Space Page for the source image, and then link to the space page from the associated profiles. But in any case, you should fully cite your source on each profile.
