additional lines to build out - previously undocumented Richard Savage, father of Susan Savage-French

A few lines will end up being connected with the proposal that I put in the comments (and have reproduced below) for the affected profile. A little more can be said here. I've done a fair bit of clean-up on the French line*, as it eventually leads to a Mason branch that is near to me. Most of these twigs need some attention to sources as well as the primary connecting profile, which would be a son for this Christopher Savage I profile.

Any advice of where to best find sources would be appreciated: most of the profiles on FamilySearch are without sources. Some intersections graft into some "The Peerage" lines.

Whereas, Richard Savage (ca. 1512-1551) is not listed as "among other children;" and it appears that his candidate spouse was Alice Watson (ca. 1535-1585) - as her 1st marriage; sources are sought to confirm his addition.

Further, Alice Watson and Richard Savage appear to be the parents of Susan (Savage) French (b. 1550 - apparently, before that as informed by Alice Watson's first childbirth by William Smith).

If possible, sourcing for Alice Watson will be enhanced in this, too.

Most compelling source for Richard Savage:

England & Wales, Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills, 1384-1858: Richard Savage, Death: Abt 1551, Civil (presumably probate date): 6 Aug 1551.

Thus, Alice Watson married Richard Savage 1st, widowed, married William Smith-3168.

*Interestingly, two brothers have similar names: George French, and Dennis George French. The former married Cecilia Grey (in "The Peerage"), while his brother Dennis George French has an unknown wife, but they bore a daughter (among other children), who married Thomas Mason planter at Accakeek and (apparently)  were an immigrant generation to Virginia, well before the close of the 17th century.

From the French Family Association, one of the works cited is The Visitation of Worcestershire 1634.

When I search on that, I get what may be a false positive hit, with a sub-description as Butler, Alfred T. The Visitation of Worcestershire 1634. (The Publication of the Harleian Society. Volume 90, for the year 1938).

Interesting that an apparent re-edit in 1938 is still under copyright.

Sorry Fann but you seem to have made some assumptions about this family that isn't supported by the evidence.

For instance the burial information for Susan Savage refers to her father Richard Savage, but this doesn't explain why she would be buried under the name Savage, and not French.  Also where a burial lists the father, it is often an indication that the person being buried is still a child.  My feeling is that this burial information refers to someone else.

I know you didn't create the Dennis George French, profile, but again using more than one name is still quite rare in this time period and there might be a combination of several people in this profile.

I think it might be 'back to the drawing board' for this family group.

Thanks for that, John. I went ahead and removed the improbable death record, and otherwise beefed up Susan Savage's profile on the basis of results that others have found. Hopefully, something more will emerge to help document Susan's origins. I am still working on the citations from the French Family Association.

I am not sure why two Georges apply, but I will further that line of inquiry. From what I have seen, the two had different lines, with one George having a clearly defined spouse, and a son George II, and the other George, not so much, but at least one daughter who married a Mason.
