I've accidently created a duplicate and could use some assistance [closed]

Question

I accidently created duplicates Susan {Tomlinson-3088} and {Tomlison-7}.  The mistake happened using FamilySearch the first time I created the profile. Today I was adding sources to Susan's daughter, son in law, and grandchildren.  When I got to her husband the original profile was no longer attached.  Unfortunately I hastily created a duplicate profile using a different spelling that I also got from FamilySearch.  Arghhhh!!

 Now, when I attempt to merge the two a window comes up saying not to merge them unless I am certain of the spelling as it appears on a birth certificate.  I spoke with one of  Susan's surviving grandchildren, who is 83, yesterday and he informed me that she came to America when she was 13 with another young girl but he was uncertain where she was born.  All that I have currently attached are census records which do not give her maiden name.  Findagrave states that the name was Tomlinson, Susan Tomlinson Haythorn Pence.  FamilySearch shows a hint on her husbands profile for a 1893 wedding in Philladelphia but, when I try to open it error in server appears.  I searched the date names and location online and it appears ancestry verifies the names and location of the wedding, however since I am not a subscriber it will not show me the document.

I've tapped all the resources I can and am sitting in limbo. What should I do about the duplicate?

The correct spelling is Tomlinson. Her date of birth is most likely 16 Sep 1876 despite a recorded date of 16 Sep 1877 in her SS Application & Claims form. Census records consistently coincide with a birth year of 1876. Given that information, she appears to be the daughter of Enoch Tomlinson and Elizabeth Hunt, born in Sedgley, Staffordshire, England.

I currently have world Ancestry so I have added the marriage source you mentioned.  There is also a christening record for a Beatrice Selina Haythorn

The simple solution is in the merge process pick the name you consider the most accurate for the primary database entry and then put others with a discussion in the text such as you offered in your question here.

Then add the various sources, including those that conflict, and add your comments about each.

The important thing is that you honor the person by including them in the WT world-wide single tree for the benefit of future researchers.
