Many projects use Google+ Communities (AKA Google Groups) for communication and collaboration. Google announced in December that they were shutting down Google+ in the near future. They have now announced that the end will come April 2, 2019 (they will close and begin deleting all personal account (which includes communities, apparently). What is the plan for WikiTree groups to replace these (NOT Facebook PLEASE!)

Hi Rob,

Google+ Communities and Google Groups are two different things. G+ Communities are going away but Groups are not.

Thanks, Eowyn. That certainly is not at all clear in the Google help at the link Google sent me today warning that My personal account on Google+ was being shut down as were all Google + Communities. There is no mention at all of Google Groups, even though they go to the trouble to specifically list some other Google services that will not be shut down. Expect newts like me to ask this again, as they likely won't see the history of questions about this, I didn't.
but Google Groups (WITHOUT the +) will still exist. And THIS is where most of the WikiTree- groups are located. So the communication foundation for the projects is still existant.
I don’t like using Google Groups. I find it difficult to navigate.  Is there some way that the WikiTree software can be used for these conversions?  Perhaps a new G2G category for projects would be appropriate, and we could subscribe to particular project feeds.
