I have a 14th cousin on Wikitree but he has ony made 9 contributions since January 2016 and he has a red padlock

What happens to the profile as I know he is still alive

Nothing. As he is a member, his profile will continue to show with a red padlock. He will only become unlisted if he closes his account. Even then, I believe his profile will stay.

Ok Fiona thanks

Bit frustrating but that is how it is
in what way is it frustrating? what would you like to see happen?
It is frustrating as he has not been on for 3 years but I have messaged him again now to see if he replies to my trusted list request
If he doesn’t respond to your trusted list request, you can use the Unresponsive Manager Request to get profiles opened.
There is no option for that and this is the second time I have asked the last time was about 6 months ago and the last message I posted on his profile was 11th October 2017

I shall put his profile in my post if it helps
You can’t get his profile open, but you should be able to get access to any potentially open profiles that he manages. (I have done this on a family line.) Why would you want access to the profile of a living member? I’m a bit confused. If you email info@wikitree.com, they may be able to advise you.
I was hoping originally to join his trusted list and help him in progressing but parents have not been added
I have message the wikitree team to see what they suggest
Maybe he has changed his mind about being on WikiTree, especially if he won’t acknowledge your requests. In theory, I think you could add his parents and connect him, but I remember finding my own parents on another website and thinking it was a bit creepy. I purposely didn’t add my deceased aunts and uncles here for that reason. My first cousin didn’t have the same scruples and created duplicate profiles for my parents with incorrect surname spelling. Luckily it was easily fixed. For someone so distant who won’t communicate, maybe you need to tread carefully.
He has got trees on other sites going right back and thank you Fiona I will

I know his father past away but I think I will wait and see what the team come back with
14th cousin isn't really close at all.

If you wanted trusted access to a shared ancestor a couple centuries ago, that'd be one thing, or if it was just a matter of adding one or two relatives to connect a branch, but with only nine contributions I suspect this person has pretty much only made their own profile here and not actually built their tree.

If I were you, I'd leave him and his recent tree alone, and let him or his immediate family connect in their own time.
