William Schindler B: 1851?, D: 1934 in Hunterville/Marton, New Zealand he married Minnie Christina Johnskie B: 1878?, D: 1967 in Manuwatu, New Zealand. They Married in 1899.

They had 5 children  William Frederick B: 1901, Florrie Minnie Aldine B: 1902, Percy Stuart B: 1903, Claredon Trevas B: 1910, Adelaide Frances B: 1912. Percy Passed away at 4mths old and Claredon at age 7 after a long illness.

I really would like some help as to where I look to find where both William and Minnie were born and who their parents are. I found a Wilhelm Schindler who come over to NZ on the Boat Fritz Reuter which sailed into Wellington Harbour on the 4th August 1876 from Breslau and by the dates he would of been around 26/7 years old. Any little shove in the right direction would be much appreciated. I know nothing about the Johnskie family.

Kiri, have you ordered the marriage and death records from New Zealand, which usually contain parental details.

Someone just said the marriage record could have their parents names on it is that correct I haven’t order the certificates yet i should really get onto that.
The death certificate should also have the number of years lived in New Zealand. Order a printout at $25 and you get a scanned image of the original which is often more use than a transcribed certificate at $33

If you go to, which is free.  They have boards for everything you need to find you ancestors in every country.  I was looking for Scotland and they told me how to find all the different documents in great detail.  If you don't go now at least keep the web address as it is a gold mind of information of where to find everything that genealogist need for free.

There is a Schindler mentioned in the book "They called it Marton by Paul Melody"

Check on the NZ BDM site as info contained on certificates varies depending on the year so you can then get the best one.

He was naturalized 7 oct 1890 p1113 NZ Gazette he was a labourer at Hunterville. You can buy this or go and view archives NZ

I searched Papers Past and got the following

Thank you very much I had found the clips on Clarence a few years back but didn’t know about him being naturalized on this date I have order his and Minnie’s Marriage certificate printout just waiting to receive it. I had heard of this book apparently he helped build a church down in the area or helped rebuild after a fire be interesting to see what in written in the book. Thank you once again
Forgot to say that the naturalisation papers are often quite detailed and will probably give you date of arrival, place born and maybe parents.
