David Reed b 01 Feb 1796 in Belfast, ME. Father is Thomas Read ("Reed") and mother is Sarah "Sally", last name unknown.
David married Lavina Young in 1822 in Belfast, Maine. They are present in Belfast, in the 1850 Federal Census, in the same dwelling, four individuals with the last name- Reed (no relationships given) are listed as living with David and Lavina (can I conclude these are their children as no relationship is listed?). One of the individuals is Hawes Y Reed, age 25.
Lavina (Young) Reed is present with a Hawes Y Reed, age 34 (and others) in Cannon Falls, Minnesota in the 1860 United States Federal Census. A David Reed is listed but he is 1 month old and born in MN.
There are four David Reeds (Read, Reid) listed in the 1860 Federal Census with a birth date of 1976 +/- 1 year. Additionally there are four David Reeds in various state records but these cannot be David Reed from Belfast as none of these David Reeds were born in Maine
I have researched the various Vital records for a death record for David Reed b. 1796 in Belfast and FindaGrave records. I am unable to locate the David Reed of interest (in Minnesota or Maine).
To be noted, there is record of Lavina but not David "rem., Minnesota and died in May 1875." Eaton, Cyrus. "Annals of the town of Warren in Knox County, Maine: with the early history of St. George's, Broad Bay, and the neighboring settlements on the Waldo Patent." Hallowell Me.: Masters & Livermore, 1877. p. 650.
Any ideas on where I failed to search? What is the conclusion that can be made when someone disappears from primary & secondary records? Death: unknown?
