Legendary baseball Hall of Famer Frank Robinson - the first African-American to manage a professional team - has died aged 83.

It is a sad day for all baseball fans, I do not want to say how old I am but I remember when Frank Robinson played baseball. It would be nice if they can get a Notable complete for a great baseball player and a trailblazer for African Americans for his accomplishments in Baseball.

My late husband was a baseball fan and he would tell me things (trying to excite my interest in a foreign sport and all).

As I get time this weekend I will work on adding some sources and information. Besides being the first African-American to manage a professional team, he is one of the few to accomplish the "Triple Crown".

I did quite a bit of hunting on him and really struck out on sources. I can't find any evidence of him on the 1940 Census, and that would have been a gateway to at least his mother. Reportedly his mother married Frank Sr not too long before Frank Jr's birth (within a year maybe?) and had 2 previous husbands who had fathered 9 children prior. So tracking her by last name will be a challenge. I couldn't find Frank's siblings names either, so no luck there. Frank Sr was in and out of the picture quickly - maybe married around 1933-1934 and divorced by 1936-1937. Moved from Texas prior to 1940 and probably in Oakland, Alameda area by 1940.

Same here this is going to be a challenging one, I was able to find a a residence from 2007 in Sherman Oaks, California. The problem is there are a lot of Frank Robinson's out there and being that he is a Jr. makes it even that more challenging. But that means I will not give up until I find more. Challenge Accepted...
