 - Chips Rafferty  - an Australian actor, now in WikiTree,  was an actor in the film which launched the careers of Australian actors, John William Pilbean Goffage (better known by his stage name, Chips Rafferty) and Michael Pate, and the legendary wartime cinematographer, Damien Parer. (edit)

He was cast as the comic lead in Forty Thousand Horsemen (1940), ^[2] Charles Chauvel's much-publicized tribute to the Australian Light Horse in the Sinai desert campaign of World War I.

I remember an ad he featured in back in the days of black and white TV. It was set in Marble Bar, reputably Australia's hottest location and Rafferty's line was "It's 115 in the shade out there." We were all meant to go "115! Phwoar!" but it seems a bit mild after this recent heatwave with temperatures above 120°F.

Thank you, John.  One of my favourite actors.  I have his two 'Smiley' films and 'Rats of Tobruk' on dvd.  Great job.
