Really nice photo, Ange. I wonder what kind of trees were used to make the framed structure behind her. You can see the texture of the bark.

Hi there Pio,

That tree trunk is the NZ native Ponga tree. It's like a giant tree fern. It was typically used to make fences or various light structures in domestic gardens. These days you can't just chop them down because they are protected. Thanks for your comments. Ange

Lovely woman She is smiling in a picture when almost everyone did not. I like her dress, She has  a handful of beautiful flowers. Nice garden behind her. Like usual I am sitting here wondering if she bakes s delicious loaf of bread.  Slice it when it is warm and some home made butter spread over the slice and the butter is melting from the warmth of the bread. Thanks for sharing this wonderful GG Grandmother and wonderful baker with us.

Thanks for your lovely comments. It is very likely she did the baking for the family, my great grandmother (her daughter) worked in a hotel kitchen, and of course I have a passion for cooking that has been with me all my life. I always thought she was holding a bunch of daises too, but after blowing the image up, I can see they are just behind her and her other hand is nestled on the inside of the chair.

They looked like a sunflower to me at first.  Now they look like a daisy. I wish I knew what kind of flowers that she was not holding :o) New Zealand has some really pretty flowers.
