I just wanted to make the general comment that this is a great thread.  The photos posted are so many varieties of awesome.  Here at Wikitree, sources and accuracy are king, but good data do not usually capture the complexities of the the human experience shown in the images.  Thanks.

So many family photos are posed photos with stiff smiles. Thank goodness my relatives didn't mind hamming it up for photos.

Pictured are my great uncles Lou Schneider and Chic Trillitzsch and John Graf, a family friend. They were at a family picnic and baseball game in Merrick LI. As best I can guess, the photo was taken in the late 1930s. John is holding a poster of the Schnitzelbank song, this particular version created with slightly different lyrics from the traditional version to advertise the Jacob Ruppert Brewery, one of the largest in the world, although its business never regained its prominence after Prohibition was repealed. Ruppert was an important New York figure; he bought the Yankees baseball team, built Yankee Stadium and brought a player named Babe Ruth into the franchise. I don't know if any of my relatives had any connection to the brewery, but I have no doubt (from the series of photos this one is part of) that they enjoyed their brew.

I remember how much fun Uncles Chic and Louie were to be around, This joy is why this photo is a favorite of mine.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my mother who is now 82 years old.  She was about 20 years old in this picture taken in 1955, before I was thought about.  She tells me that she thought she was really dressed up and looking her best, but the clothes were hand-me-downs, which is just fine.

I have so many favorite photos it was hard to chose. This answers the 52_Ancestor challenge as well, though it is being posted here instead. It is a photo of my great-great-grandparents and their many children. They were Thomas (Sandy and Mary (Miller) MacDonald.  From the age of my great-grandfather, James Coutts MacDonald, on the far right (and the oldest) who was born in 1866, this must have been taken about 1900 when he was about 35 years old while he still speaking to his family because of the scandal he later caused. They all were born in Forfar, Angus, Scotland and came to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania over a period of years starting in 1885.

This photo of my great-grandmother and my grandfather is one of my favorites, because it's so relatable.

I, too, have young kids. And I, too, have tried to put my kids in some ridiculous poses to get that perfect baby photo.

I love that Mabel thought, "I know! I'll put my baby in a bowl in the front yard. That will make the perfect picture." And I love that she's laughing at someone off-camera, probably about the whole ridiculous baby-in-a-bowl thing.

This was a little hard to do. I couldn't find my all time favorite to save my life this past week. So I am using my paternal grandmother on her wedding day. Not only do I love her gown, I also love how happy she looks.

A little late on this one but I was on vacation, so ....

Here' a photo of Grandpa Purdy wrasslin' a turkey!

Grandpa Purdy was my father's step-great-grandfather, and he lived to the age of 106.  I'm not sure how old he was here.  When he was born the US Civil War was still being fought, and by the end of his life man had walked on the moon!

What a challenge, to pick a favorite photo out of hundreds! I settled on this one of my father's aunt. She was a wonderful lady. In this photo she's about 90.

My grandfather’s favorite thing was to fish. He would stop and fish on the way home from work or church or sometimes if he was sent to the store he would forget and go fishing instead. He would clean and smoke them and always have extra that he would go downtown and pass out to anyone hanging around. He fed many people for many years with his favorite hobby.

This has got to be one of my favorite photos of my grandmother, Lois (Johnson) Whittingham, taken when she was about 17/18. I was surprised when I first found a few of these photos. They were taken for my grandfather who was in the Pacific during WWII at the time.
