A category for the victims of the SS Arctic sinking

+3 votes
I've never created a category before, so I'd like some assistance on setting up a category in the Maritime Disasters for the victims and survivors of the 1854 sinking of the SS Arctic off the coast of Newfoundland. The SS Arctic collided with a smaller vessel, the SS Vesta, and in the turmoil, the lifeboats were commandeered almost entirely by the crewmembers, who abandoned the passengers and captain on board the ship. All the women and children died.

It would definitely belong in [[Category:Maritime Disasters]]. There are no instructions for adding subcategories, so I would create [[Category:SS Arctic Disaster]] as a subcategory of Maritime Disasters.

Hi Natalie, just took a look at Maritime Disasters category, and added it as parent of Empress of Ireland.  Something a bit odd in there, there is also a sub-category to Maritime Disasters called Shipwrecks.  Isn't that a bit redundant?
I also think it is redundant. One problem is that the WWD project has no leader and I don't think anyone is taking care of their categories right now.

If there is already a category for the ship, then the thing to do is create a category for that last sailing, and link it upward to the category for the ship itself.

(Plus linking to Maritime Disasters, as Natalie said.)
