John C. Hindman born around 1910 in Philadelphia, HELP?

Question

My MIL is turning 85 and has expressed interest in finding out who her father was. Her parents divorced when she was two, she went to live with her grandparents and they refused to discuss her father.

Here's what I know:

John C. Hindman, lived in Phildadelphia, PA. He was born around 1910, give or take 5-10 years. He married Marjorie Swartz. We do not know his parent's names, but he did have two sisters who were called Mae (may be a nickname) who married a Dunham, and Alice, who married Frank J. Shields.

My brother tried to contact John Hindman around 1973 & was told he had passed.

I am in the 1940 census along with my mother, Ruth, who was John C Hindman’s wife.

I do not know what happened to JH, my father, because my mom, brother and I left in 1950 and we never saw him again.

His sister, Alice's, middle name was May, and she married Francis (Frank) J Shields. His mother's maiden name was Musselman.

My grandfather was Samuel Hindman, father was John Hindman of Philadelphia. I recognize names in the census. My mother Ruth and John Hindman were divorced many years ago when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I am now 79. I never saw him again. I also had a brother, John Hindman, who passed in 2012.
