How do you change the name of a free-space profile?

Is it possible to change the name of a free space page after it is created without losing anything?  I was working on a page idea and I named it something silly.  I'd like to change the name of it before I make it public.  Is that possible without losing any work?

Hi Ed,

I moved this question from "Genealogy Help" to "WikiTree Tech." I check the latter much more frequently.

Free-space profiles have both a title and a name. The title is what you name it originally and it's what you're talking about here. The name field was added so that people wouldn't have to change the title -- which is also the WikiTree ID and URL -- if they wanted to adjust the display name. The name is used in the headline.

However, we're still using titles instead of names in categories, which makes it annoying if you don't like the title.

Ideally we'll fix things so that the name is all you need to worry about. In the meantime, if it's very important to you, you can do the following:

  1. Create a second free-space profile with the title you want.
  2. Merge the first one into the second one using http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:MergeSpace

I'm glad I asked that question before I went much further. Thanks!
