Can you help to connect an unconnected notable?

While I was looking for previous threads asking for help connecting various groups of people, I came across a bunch of threads from the past few years, asking for help connecting individual notables. So, it seemed to me that it might help to gather them together into a single list and let you take them on. Unlike other lists of this type, I'm linking to the thread about them, rather than to the profile, so you can update that thread (as well as this one, please) when you get a notable connected.

If you can add sources, photos, or biographies, build out the family trees, or improve these profiles in any other ways, so much the better!

But, but, Greg ………… I have a new unconnected Notable that could do with some help.

I generally try to encourage people to post stuff like that in that month's notables thread. That has two advantages: it makes sure that those who are in the Notables Project know about it, and, as I understand it, the Integrators Project comes along afterwards and makes sure that the information posted in G2G threads gets saved to the relevant profiles.

I shall do that, in the hope that an Integrator might be able to help.  smiley

(I am a member of the Notables Project.)

With Charles now connected, that pushes this challenge up to fourth place in terms of percent complete, at 70.6%. In terms of people still to connect, it's in a three-way tie for seventh place, at 5. (That's not because anybody has become disconnected, but because other challenges have pushed past it.)

These percentages make no sense to me.
What Greg is saying is that out of the original question, which had 17 people to connect, that 12 people have been connected. 12 divided by 17 = 70.58 or 70.6%.

Greg also has a number of long-standing challenges to connect several different groups of people, and out of all those challenges that he has run, this one happens to be in 7th place based on the 5 people remaining to be connected and 4th place based on the percentage of people connected. (sorry - had to edit to make it more accurate).

Does that help?
Yes, thank you! I never thought about genealogy mathmatically like that before!

Oh, if you know people who are into math, charts, statistics, and that kind of stuff, then WikiTree absolutely needs them. If they think there is no need for their skills when it comes to genealogy, they need to read the WikiTree Dashboard thread.

Somebody (or a couple of somebodies) connected William Goldman and Chips Rafferty, so this challenge is now in fourth place in terms of percent complete, at 82.4%. In terms of people still to connect, it's in a three-way tie with Can you help connect a Yukon Commissioner? and Help connect military heroes to overall global tree, at three.

Somebody connected Frank Robinson, so this challenge is now in third place in terms of percent complete, at 88.2%. In terms of people still to connect, it's tied with Can you help connect a goodie maker?, at two.

I've been working on Medgar Evers, and just finished writing his biography. I've added more family members to his tree and am looking for lines married into his relatives so that we can start building his tree and branch out towards a potential connection.

If anybody wants to do a civil rights activist project, I created profiles for some but didn't connect them yet:

Vernon Dahmer  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dahmer-77

James Chaney https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Chaney-1475

Andrew Goodman https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Goodman-4681
Lucy Selvaggio-Diaz and I made a chart for the "100 Greatest African Americans" from the book by Molefi Kete Asante:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Asante%27s_100_Greatest_African-Americans

Most of them are still unconnected (ignore the living ones, who are now unlisted).  There are a few that I suspect may never connect (we are unlikely to learn more about the family of Crispus Attucks, for example), but most of them could be connected with more time and effort.

It can be very difficult to connect these profiles, but it's so rewarding when the connection finally pops up! :)

I ran across the orphaned profile of Lorne Greene the other night and have been working to get him connected. I have added his wives, a daughter, a son that Family Search says is deceased (I haven't found any corroborating documentation) and his first wife's second husband. I know definitely his youngest daughter is still alive so I haven't added her.

I know the names of his parents although I haven't added them yet, they were immigrants from Russia to Canada.

Once I get him connected I'll pick one of these others.

Added info to father of Chips Rafferty. Birth record (with parents names) and 1871 census , with siblings. Is it possible Lucy Anne is a Pilbean?

Somebody has connected Margery Allingham. And William Walton. That has propelled this challenge into sixth place in terms of percent complete, and tied for 12th place in terms of profiles still needing to be connected.

Viola Desmond is connected (not by me).

On William Goldman's maternal side I added siblings to his grandmother, added his ggrandmother and (with estimated dates) parents to his ggfather.

Frank Robinson is still unlinked.

Thank you for the catch on Viola Desmond, Jelena. I have updated the relevant pages and threads. That pushes this thread up to 5th place in terms of percent complete, and tied for 11th place in terms of branches to connect.

I added the names in the lineage for Pierre Plantard but it requires someone with access to records in France for sources.
