DIED: PATTERSON- AT HIS RESIDENCE, ONE MILE EAST OF ST. ANSGAR ON THE 15TH INST., JAMES PATTERSON, AGED 71 YEARS. Mr. Patterson has been a severe sufferer for the last 18 years from the effects of a stroke of lightning. His mind pervious to the accident was strong and vigorous, he being a man of great energy and success in his business. Since then his intellect has gradually failed, and for the past six months he has been insane, it being necessary to restrain him at times. For the past few weeks his strength has been rapidly failing and on Monday night he expired surrounded by his family and friends. Owing to the nature of his disease and the conditions it produced, his disease will be considered not untimely, and though they morn his loss they will rejoice that his liberated spirit is now free from disease. His family have the sympathy of all citizens. St. Ansgar Register January 17, 1877
