Do you find profiles that will never connect with ... ?

... 1- Queen Victoria OR 2- The Profile of the Week, OR The Member of the Week ?

Suggestion 568, "Wikidata - Unconnected branches to global tree'' seems to be a false suggestion for many, many profiles. The explanation at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Connection_Finder states The Connection Finder is optimized to work for three individuals at a time, including: 1- Queen Victoria, 2- The Profile of the Week, a featured profile, 3 -The Member of the Week, a featured member.

Sheila, this isn't a false error. You are confusing the public display for Connection Finder with the tree as a whole. You may well never connect with one of those three people but you can still connect to the tree, Connectivity to the tree is calculated once per day so a new connection may not show up immediately, but please do not mark as false errors.

I should also add that the word "optimized" doesn't mean "restricted to" just that a search might work faster.

A connected profile will always have the display at the bottom.
It appears that my question has been misinterpreted. The DB 568 suggestion has nothing to do with my personal WT profiles. The db 568 suggestion is made with regard to profiles of many, many notables.  The db 568 info page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:DBE_568 provides the link to Connection Finder. We can look at the profiles for many, many NOTABLES but even though these profiles have links to spouses, children, parents, etc, etc they will never connect to Queen Victoria.
There is NO requirement to connect to Queen Victoria and DB 568 doesn't say or imply that. It just wants connection to the one tree. Connection Finder will show if any profile is connected. It is as Deb said, a "connected" profile will have the Connection Finder info at the bottom. It won' show up on unconnected profiles. Being optimized for those three profiles is completely irrelevant.

Sheila,

If they are connected to the big tree, they will connect to Queen Victoria. Do not confuse being connected with being related. Connections are made through marriages as well. If you are connected to one person in the big tree, then you are connected to all persons in the big tree, including Victoria.

The connection finder is the way you determine if a profile is connected to the big tree. We are all connected in some way and the preselected connection finder profiles are already connected to the big tree. Once a profile is connected by any branch to another profile that shows the connection finder profiles at the bottom, that profile becomes connected. As Doug said, it can take up to 24 hours for the connections to display at the bottom of the newly connected profile. If you aren't connected to those profiles, you aren't connected.

Is it possible that you will be unable to make the connection for some individuals due to lack of sources? Yes, but that doesn't make it a false error. It should never be marked as a false error.

I recently added a profile for a notable who immigrated from Japan to Hawaiʻi. He never married, no children, lynched at a young age. We have found no relations, but do think there could be nieces and nephews in Japan. It is a stretch to think we will easily connect his profile to the big tree. Will he appear in perpetuity on my suggestion list?
