I was intrigued to notice that the Redmond Barry who married Elizabeth Hanwell in 1790 signed the marriage register with a rather neat hand. https://www.ancestry.ca/interactive/1623/31281_a101803-00247/1126950?backurl=https://www.ancestry.ca/family-tree/person/tree/76453340/person/322080475214/facts/citation/942111095843/edit/record The Redmond Barry that I am looking for apparently wrote a few letters to his famous older brother, James Barry the painter. Those letters are said to be evidence of semi-literacy. Apparently the letters are in the James Barry papers, according to a family tree on Ancestry; transcription found here: https://www.ancestry.ca/mediaui-viewer/collection/1030/tree/76453340/person/322080475214/media/4d57e0c6-77a9-42ec-9c33-01373a289c23?_phsrc=TYo3402&usePUBJs=true; I wonder if anyone is able to see both the signature on the marriage register and also find the original of the letter to the famous brother and give an opinion as to whether they could be written by the same hand.
