Need help transcribing marriage intention (MA 1732)

+2 votes

I'm having trouble making out the name of the bride in this marriage intention.

It looks like it says Jonathan Thayer (late of Lyn) residing in Weymouth.  Ancestry transcribed the bride as Mary Thayer, but it looks more like Staples to me?  But I'm not sure.

I did try to find this record in the published Weymouth Vital Records to 1850, without luck.  But maybe I just missed it. Any help appreciated.

Ancestry record (First page, lower right, last record on page)

Edit: I looked again.  The published records transcribed it as Jonathan Thoyet and Mary Staples.  Still interested in opinions as to what this record Thoyet is an unusual name, not sure that is correct.

It won't let me see the image unless I either sign for a "free trial" or pay them.  I am already signed in.  Sorry.  I rather like handwriting puzzles.
I puzzled with it for quite a while and really wanted it to say something else, but alas..

I agree that it is Jonathan Thoyet, but Mary Staple no s at the end.  In the Thayer materials I have, I can only find her as Mary Thayer.
