Search function on Nav Home Page is malfunctioning since last Saturday.

When using the Search boxes on the Nav Home Page, the system is treating them as First Names (only) - not as surnames.

Thanks for bringing this up. I thought it had to do with my being " Techno Deficant ".
Hi Keith and Trudy,

Do you mean that if you just click the search button, without clearing the first name field, it goes to the search page looking for "First Name Forrester" or "First Name Roach"? Or something else?

When I use either the little magnifying glass search icon, or the 'Enter' key on my keyboard the following is what returns:

There a four ways to search WikiTree.

First  Search for a Person

Search Results

Sorry, no matches were found for "First Name Forrester".
Hope this helps.
Hi Keith,

Right, that was expected. The designer thinks having the text "First Name" inside the first name field is better stylistically. Functionally, it's a pain because you have to clear it or replace it.

We'll come back to this and find a better UI for it when we get the basic design fully implemented.

Thanks for the explanation, Chris.  This will be fine until such time as lends itself to the full implemenation.
Yes, Thank You, Chris.

I just tried the search function on my Nav page & it works fine? If it continues you may want to email the tech people.

Thanks, Douglas.  But that is why I asked it here in the WikiTech section.  It is not an urgent matter (so I'd rather not bother the team with an email).

Just curious though: on your Nav Home Page, if you just click the search icon alongside the "Lockwood" at the top, does it goe to the Lockwood Page?

Thanks again,

~ Keith
I now understand what you were reporting previously. When I just hit the search button without entering a first & last name it thinks I'm asking for a first name, not a surname.
