Rejected matches, how to clear them.

I've been going through all the possible matches for my family, it's a long shot I know, but when there is nothing else. you have to give it a go.

Most are obviously not matches, and we can reject them, but it would be better if we could clear them, making room for new possibles, and generally de-cluttering.

Is there any way to clear these lists when all are rejected ?

Also, many have no information, possibly due to privacy, but there is nothing there to compare, and you can't be expected to ask to join every trusted list, just on the off-chance that one may be a distant relative.

So, does anyone have any suggestions ??

Typically these come up for those profiles without dates; when I come across birthdate-less profiles, I try to estimate them based on other information in the profile.

Many of the ones I come up with have no information at all except for a name.  So I do a merge or suggested merge to get rid of what is just clutter.  A name alone helps no one.

If you are on the Find Ancestor Matches page, there is an option at the bottom that says "Skip Pending Merges, Unmerged Matches, and Rejected Matches: "  Make sure that has a check mark in the box.  If it does, anything that you have already rejected will not show up in your search.  I really wish that the pending merges and unmerged matches were on separate lines.  That would make it so much better in my opinion.  That way you can still have them come up and have a look to see if there is a possibility of a match.

As for not knowing if there is a match, I click on unmerged match and hope that the other person will actually look to see if it does match from what they can see.  If possible, I click on other people that might show up in the profile (mother or father), but they can't always be seen.  Sometimes clicking on other people will immediately tell you that it can't possibly be the same.

Thanks Norma, I'll make sure the box is checked in future.

As for checking possible matches where the other person managing has offered no information for us to check against, I don't know what the answer is. Assuming they actually do want to find matches, I would suggest it might be prudent to disclose some detail, no need to supply the candidates life history, but a little info would be a great help.
