Need proof of parents of Lewis Holder, 1814-1850, Greenville, SC

Lewis Holder, abt 1814-1860, Greenville, SC (Holder-190) had no parents, nor could I find anything except a boy of the right age lived with a Sarah Holder and later w/ Sallie Holder, but this was 1830 and 1850, respectively I believe.  In the last five yrs. several HOLDER researchers have claimed that James Martin Holder (Holder-216) and wife Sarah UNK were his parents.  While it is possible, I would love proof.  Does anyone have anything that would prove or disprove this?

Lewis died of pneumonia in May, 1860, leaving his 29 yr. old wife with 7 children and expecting the 8th Chile, born the next January, 1861, making him a posthumous child.

I appreciate any help on this line of HOLDERS!

As a distant cousin of Dolores I am also looking for these answers! Specifically Father of Lewis Holder who also may actually have been Richard "Lewis" Holder. Wife of Mary Ann Goodlett!

Lewis is a name used in my family since at least the Rev. War. It has been used as both a first and middle name. The first record I have is a payroll for a company of rangers led by a Capt.Daniel Carlin from Henry Co., VA.

Solomon Holder, Lt.; Lewis Holder, Ensign; and John Holder, Sgt. appear on this list for July 1779. They were assigned to patrol (likely as mounted troops) the area between the New River and the Yadkin River, straddling the border between VA and NC.

As I write this, I am less than a quarter mile from where the "Great Wagon Road" from Philadelphia passed through en route to Old Salem. I do much of my research at Wake Forest Univ. library and have backtracked the likely routes of the colonial roads through NC and VA on my vacations.

Though this is not literally an "answer", it may help in playing connect the dots with what information is currently available.

Good luck.
